What is it?

This self-assessment focusses on the skills required to perform the category management function. It focusses on an eight-step category management process and asks you for rate yourself across 72 self- evaluations.


It explores the Procurement Attributes, Business Attributes and Personal Attributes that drive excellence in each step of the category management process. As such, skills are uniquely aligned to the distinct phase and capabilities of procurement.

On completion you will receive an individual report with an assessment of your capability across a range of technical competencies. It will highlight each phase of the category management process focussing on both your strengths and your evolving skill-sets. The key output is a set of recommendations for both you and your manager to consider in order to optimise department and individual performance.


What is this assessment based on and how reliable is it?

The question sets are based on an established 8-step category management process and is based on technical skills standards. The content of each question has been considered by procurement consultants and practitioners in Australia and United Kingdom to ensure relevance, reliability and validity of the assessment.


How challenging is the assessment?

The evaluation is designed to gain insights into team and individual skill sets. To this end there are varying levels of difficulty in the question set however, criteria are not designed to 'trip up' or trick individuals. There is no 'good' or 'bad' profile result but rather an insight into the overall picture. The assessment generally takes around 30-40 minutes to complete.


Can I deploy this across my entire team?

Yes! This assessment is available online and requires no face-to-face interviews. It can easily be deployed across a geographically dispersed workforce. Each person will receive their own unique login credentials and on completion, their individualised reports. We will then aggregate the scores to provide you with the insights you require.
